In may of 2009, Vince Campbell and I (Ken Sanders) will ride across America. We will ride from San Francisco, CA to Yorktown, VA. We will be following Adventure Cycling's combined routes of the "Western Express" and the "TransAmerica" bicycle routes which meet at Pueblo, CO. We will also be adding a "detour" from Murphysboro, IL to Fort Wayne, IN and then back to Berea, KY to again join the TransAm route. The total mileage will be 4,100 and our goal is to complete the ride in approximately 45 days, averaging 100 miles per day.

Our purpose is to raise funds and awareness for Wings of Hope, a local women's prison ministry in Fort Wayne. Wings of Hope is directed by Linda Klucsinzke, a godly woman who began in 1997 by inviting a woman from jail to stay with her while transitioning back into society. Since then, hundreds of women have been helped recover from addictions, get jobs, pursue higher education goals, and be reunited with family members. Shortly after beginning, Fort Wayne courts began to sentence women to Wings of Hope as an alternative to spending additional time in prison. Today, the courts have recognized that this ministry is the most promising alternative they can offer these women.
